The Party Committee of Vietsovpetro convened its 12th congress on Monday to outline strategic priorities for the 2025–2030 term, reaffirming the company’s commitment to growth, innovation, and sustainability.
During the congress, Vu Mai Khanh, Party Secretary and General Director of Vietsovpetro, reported that the company successfully met all five key objectives set during the previous term. These achievements included expanding operational areas and sectors, maintaining safe operations, restructuring the organization, enhancing core technical services, and developing human resources.
Over the past five years, Vietsovpetro has extracted 336.9 million cubic meters of natural gas, contributing approximately $5.58 billion to the Vietnamese state budget and profits for the Vietnamese side.
Looking ahead, Vietsovpetro is actively collaborating with authorities to secure approval for PetroVietnam and its joint venture partners to invest in offshore wind power projects, marking a strategic shift towards renewable energy.
The upcoming term will focus on several major targets: signing contracts for oil and gas exploration and production in two to four new blocks, advancing offshore renewable energy projects, and increasing oil and gas reserves by two to three million metric tons annually.
To realize these goals, the Party Committee has outlined five strategic tasks: expanding cooperation in oil and gas exploration and production as well as energy and industrial sectors; ensuring safe and efficient operations; strengthening core oil and gas services; accelerating green and digital transformation; and promoting sustainable development.
The Vietsovpetro Party Committee currently comprises over 2,200 members. At the congress, a new executive committee of 25 members was elected to lead the company through this new phase.
Since the start of the previous term, Vietsovpetro has implemented more than 900 scientific research projects and technological initiatives, generating economic benefits exceeding $42 million. Through optimized management, cost control, and resource efficiency, the joint venture has saved and optimized over $130 million during this period.
This congress marks a critical milestone for Vietsovpetro as it balances traditional oil and gas operations with a forward-looking agenda centered on sustainable and renewable energy development.
